INCIDENT: Found Bicycle

DATE /TIME: 10/12/2011 @ 1910 Hours

LOCATION: Elevator Road near Dixon Tavern Road, Barclay

NARRATIVE: Citizen located 16” bicycle lying down on the side of the road and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office. Dfc. George Sewell responded and took the bike to the Sheriff’s Office. To claim the bike, call (410) 758 – 0770.

INCIDENT: Theft under $1000

DATE / TIME: 10/12/2011 @ 1028 Hours

LOCATION: Duhamel Corner Road, Sudlersville

VICTIM: Edna Wallace / Patricia Boggs / John Comegy / Karen Cloud / Katherine Elburn /Karen Clough of

Sudlersville

NARRATIVE: Victims advised that their vehicle had been entered / broke-in during the night. Mrs.  Wallace advised during the night she had received a text message from her husband telling her to wake up, yet her husband was there in the house. They discovered that Mr. Wallace’s Cavalier had been entered and a duffel bag with his cell phone had been stolen. Mrs. Patricia Boggs 200 Mazda was found with a broken window and a Wallet with $250 cash and her house keys was missing. Mr. & Mrs. Comegy reported finding one of their cars with the door ajar and interior light on. Several vehicles parked at their location had been entered however at this time noting appears to be missing. Ms. Karen Clough reported her 2007 Dodge Nitro had been entered and a briefcase with a Sony camera, building permits and building proposals, and bank statements was missing. Katherine Elburn reported her 1999 Dodge truck was entered and $250 was missing. Her husband’s Taurus and a second vehicle, a 2002 Mazda were also entered and $45.00 was missing. The Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols in the area and Sheriff Hofmann is asking anyone with information about these thefts or who notice suspicious subjects near cars in the area to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770.

INCIDENT: Medical Emergency

DATE / TIME: 10/11/11 @ 1847 Hours

LOCATION: Cox Neck Road, Chester

VICTIM: Male (25) of Chester

NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to the residence after a family member reported the male was in the bathroom and had a shotgun at his head. Prior to arrival, a second call reported a single gunshot from the rear of the house. Upon the arrival of the police, the male exited the house and surrender.  Numerous guns were located and seized from the residence. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

INCIDENT: MDOP

LOCATION: 900 Block of Starr Road, Centreville

VICTIM: Melvin G. Schnappinger of Centreville

NARRATIVE: Victim reported that his mailbox had been broken off of the post sometime during the night. This was the second such incident this week. Damage was estimated at $200

INCIDENT: Medical Emergency

DATE /TIME: 10/10/2011 @ 1834 Hours

LOCATION: Queenstown

VICTIM: Male (13) of Queenstown

NARRATIVE: Deputies were called to a residence in Queenstown for a report of an out of control juvenile and off his medication. On arrival the parent advised the child was making threats to harm her and shook her earlier. The Child was transported to Easton Memorial for treatment.

INCIDENT: Traffic Arrest

DATE /

TIME: 10/10/2011 @ 1630 Hours

LOCATION: Chesapeake Estates Drive, Stevensville

ARRESTED: Robert Boyer Burns (47) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE: Subject was observed driving

a 4×4 ATV on the street by the deputy. The subject was stopped on Bay Drive and identified as Robert B. Burns. A check with MVA indicated Burns to be revoked with 22 current points. The ATV was removed by a friend of Mr. Burns. Mr. Burns was taken into custody and charged with Operating an uninsured M/V, Driving on a revoked license and knowingly driving an uninsured vehicle. A District Court Commisioner set bail a $7500 and he was held at the QA Detention Center.

INCIDENT: Theft over $1000

DATE /TIME: 10/10/2011 @ 1113 Hours

LOCATION: J.W. Shepard – 324 Centreville Road, Centreville

VICTIM: J.W. Sheppard

NARRATIVE: It was reported that two metal racks placed at the rear of the shop sometime at the beginning of the summer are missing. The grass where the items were left was grown over which indicates they were taken soon after they were left. The racks were valued at $4500.

INCIDENT: Unattended Death

DATE / TIME: 10/13/2011 @ 2208 Hours

LOCATION: Old Point Road, Chester VICTIM: Chester J. Walters (88) of Chester

NARRATIVE: Deputy Miller responded to the residence after the victim’s son had found him not breathing and unresponsive. There was nothing to indicate anything other than a nature death.

INCIDENT: Injured Person

DATE /TIME: 10/13/2011 @ 0912 Hours

LOCATION: 401 Harper Road, Centreville

VICTIM: Terry L. Whittaker of Baltimore

NARRATIVE: Emergency personnel were dispatched to location after the victim was baling cardboard his hand became trapped in the machine. He was able to hit the stop button but not before he suffered a broken wrist. EMS assisted in extricating his hand and he was transported to a medical facility.

INCIDENT: Shots Fired

DATE /TIME: 10/12/2011 @ 2130 Hours

LOCATION: 300 Block of Sawmill Lane, Grasonville

NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to area for the report of several shots fired. Thru investigation it was learned that a small party was breaking up at a residence and a car came into the neighborhood fired several shots went to the end of the street, turned around and rode by again firing additional shots. Interviews of residents in the area gave statements ranging from “they heard nothing” to hearing 20 shots being fired. Patrols were increased in the area however no victims or suspects were located. On 10/13 at least one residence reported finding an apparent bullet hole in their house. The investigation is continuing.
