JOB SUMMARY
Performs clerical duties under general supervision. Duties may include receptionist, data entry, word processing, e-mail and internet usage and typing, filing and copying departmental correspondence and reports.
Responsible for employment and motor vehicle record checks, patrol summons books, petty cash and deposits, civil court papers, Sheriff sales, warrants and protective orders, finger printing, expungements and other duties that may be assigned to support the mission of the Office of the Sheriff. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides cordial, responsive and accurate customer service.
Completes more complicated clerical tasks. Provides limited independent judgment. Follows specifications or instructions. Works under general supervision. Proficient in practices and procedures in assigned area. Greets and screens calls and visitors. Answers routine questions. Organizes own work and provides assistance to other employees. Types, collates and maintains a variety of documents and reports. Coordinates specific activities with other agencies and departments. Performs basic to intermediate level computer skills, including data entry, word processing, scanner, e-mail and internet use. |
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Administrative Assistant II -High school diploma or GED required. Two years related experience OR two years secretarial/office technical training required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust posses a Class C Maryland Motor vehicle operators License or equivalent or ability to obtain such license within 30 days employment. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typically sits at a desk or computer table. Occasionally walks, stands or stoops. Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, pulls or otherwise moves objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Uses office equipment requiring average degree of dexterity. Concentration to detail is required.
