PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT:       Possession Marijuana less than 10 grams

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:           01/25/18 @ 11:14pm

LOCATION:                 Keister Drive and Cox Neck Road in Chester MD

NARRATIVE: On 1/25/18 at approximately 11:14 pm, Sgt. Hampton conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevy Truck in the area of Keister Dr and Cox Neck Rd in Chester Md. for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the driver and front seat passenger, Sgt. Hampton detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted. The search revealed a partially burnt cigar containing suspected marijuana, a small bag of suspected marijuana, a large glass smoking device, and a white rubber lip balm style container that contained suspected marijuana wax.  The driver and passenger were both issued civil citations for the possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on their signatures.

INCIDENT:      Unauthorized Use of a Motor vehicle

DATE / TIME: 1/27/18 at 6:30AM

LOCATION:  100 blk Snyder Lane, Chestertown, Md. 21620

DETAIL:    Deputy Matteson responded for a complaint of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim. She advised that on 1/26/18, her live-in son, David Emore (26yo) had borrowed her 2011 Toyota Rav4, red in color, with her permission. At approx. 9:30PM, she had made contact with him by phone and told him to bring it back and he stated that he would be home shortly. At this time, the vehicle still has not been returned and she is unaware of where it may be and has not been able to contact David. She was referred to the District Court Commissioner for further action. She responded to District Court and completed an application for charges.

INCIDENT:   MDOP under $1,000.

DATE / TIME:  1/27/18 at 3:01PM

LOCATION:    400 blk Grasonville Cemetery Rd., Grasonville, Md. 21638

DETAILS:  QACSO units responded for a complaint of destruction of property. Upon arrival, contact was made with the caller, and her boyfriend/victim. They advised that sometime between 1/21/18 and 1/27/18, their property had been damaged. The damage appeared to be from the tenants. There were no signs of forced entry. The damaged items were a LG brand TV, a Sunburst guitar, a door, and an interior wall. The estimated damage was estimated at approximately $800. This investigation is active and anyone with information is asked to call the Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County.

DATE / TIME:   01/28/2018 @ 9:01pm

LOCATION: Grange Hall Road @ Dudley Court Wye Mills, MD

ARRESTED:  Ethan Busenitz 18yo male from Centreville, VA

DETAILS:   On 1/28/2018 at approximately 9:01PM, Dfc. Prince observed a Toyota traveling above the posted speed limit of 30 MPH.  Dfc. Prince conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Upon making contact with the driver, Dfc. Prince detected an odor of marijuana.  A search was conducted of the vehicle in which a smoking device containing marijuana was located.  The driver was issued a civil citation for possession of marijuana under 10 grams and released on scene.

INCIDENT:  Reckless Endangerment

DATE / TIME:  1/28/2018 @ 12:59am

LOCATION: Pondtown Road Crumpton, MD

ARRESTED:  Michael Hazell 20yo male Crumpton, MD

DETAILS:   Dfc. Cooper conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet truck for crossing over the center line.  He made contact with the driver, identified as Michael Hazell. The driver informed Dep. Cooper that he had two shotguns in the vehicle.  Further investigation revealed that one of the shotguns was loaded.  There were other occupants of the vehicle, one of which was a juvenile who had access to the loaded firearm.  There were numerous spent and unspent cartridges throughout the vehicle.  The driver claimed ownership of the loaded firearm and was placed under arrest for Reckless Endangerment and was held on a temporary commitment at the Detention Center.  The remaining four occupants were identified and charged with the following:

Jacob Lepter 11/22/1998 – possession of an alcoholic beverage under 21 years of age

Raymond Austin Seaver 04/08/1999 – possession of an alcoholic beverage under 21 years of age

William Thomas Elborn 08/10/1998 – possession of an alcoholic beverage under 21 years of age

Douglas Bryce Mckenzie 09/20/1999 – possession of an alcoholic beverage under 21 years of age

Juvenile – female – possession of an alcoholic beverage under 21 years of age

INCIDENT:                     Traffic stop with CDS

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:           1/30/18       2:31am

LOCATION:     Roundtop Road @ Longfellow Drive in Chestertown, MD

SUSPECT:        Valerius D. Fountain / 12/05/1991/ African American male

NARRATIVE: Deputy Sackrider was on patrol in the area of Roundtop road in Chestertown, MD. He observed a white Nissan passenger car traveling in that area with an equipment violation. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. The driver was identified as Valerius D. Fountain from Chestertown.  Several indicators of CDS activity were present during the stop. A search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in the recovery of Marijuana in the amount less than 10 grams. The driver was issued a civil citation and released on scene.
