INCIDENT:            Possession of CDS – Heroin

DATE / TIME:       01/01/2014 @ 0107 Hours

LOCATION:           Chester Harbor Community Park, Chestertown (QA)


ARREST: Brittany Marie Meekins (19) of Chestertown

CHARGE:              Possession of CDS (Heroin) A & Possession of CDS Paraphernalia


NARRATIVE:         Deputy patrolling the area checked on an occupant in a car at the park. The female appeared to under the influence as the smell of alcoholic beverage was detected. When asked to step out of the car, the deputy saw an uncapped needle near the door handle and a small folded package nearby. At that time the female advised she had just “shot up”.


A search of the car resulted in the seizure of a spoon with suspected residue and numerous small plastic baggies with suspected residue.


Ms. Meekins was placed under arrest and taken to Sheriff’s Headquarters for processing. A District Court Commissioner released her on her own recognizance.

NARRATIVE:         Philip Mackie reported his mailbox being damaged overnight at his residence in the 600 block of Chester River Beach Road in Grasonville.


A short time later, John Murphy on Hess Road reported his mailbox was damaged overnight also.

LOCATION:           100 Block of Evelyn Lane, Chestertown (QA)

VICTIM:                Ronald Schrader of Chestertown


NARRATIVE:         Victim reported arriving at his residence and seeing an unfamiliar white minivan in the driveway. As he got closer, the victim saw two young white males running from the direction of his house and get into the van. The van drove away and the victim lost sight of it somewhere in Chester Harbor.


Victim returned to his residence and found an open door with the deadbolt lock damaged. One bedroom in the residence had been ransacked with nothing noted as being missing.

INCIDENT:            Tampering with Motor Vehicles

LOCATION:           Claiborne Fields Community, Centreville


NARRATIVE:         Charles Trent on Andrew Court reported finding the window of his Ford SUV broken out. Later in the morning additional calls were received from Nicola Venutg, Carl Tranz and Ann Midula on Old Line Drive and Michael Widdekind on Andrew Court who had found their vehicles had been tampered with but not damaged. Scott Hazuda on Claiborne Fields Drive found his wife’s minivan with a smashed window.


Deputies tracked the footprints in the snow to a farm lane off of Tanyard Road where a vehicle had been parked.

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported she was contacted by a neighbor who told her he had found the trash can next to her house on fire the day before around 3PM. The incident was referred to the State Fire Marshall.

NARRATIVE:         Unknown caller reported a vehicle doing circle spins on the ball field at Grasonville Park. Damage was estimated at $100. A nearby resident reported the vehicle was a black 4 door Dodge truck.

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported arriving home and saw that his mailbox had been knocked over as well as several more on the street. In total four  mailboxes were damaged.

NARRATIVE:         Victim reported someone had broken into his shed and stolen two older three wheelers. Victim advised the missing three-wheelers were red with an ATC 70 having a blue seat and the other an ATC 185 having a black seat. The two ATCs had an estimated value of $6000.

LOCATION:           5124 Sudlersville Road, Sudlersville, MD

VICTIM:                Zachary House of Centreville

ARREST: Pending


NARRATIVE:         Deputies responded to Darlene’s Tavern near Sudlersville for a disturbance. On arrival it was reported that a man in the bar had been acting strange and had been involved in a physical confrontation. A witness reported seeing the man leaving the bar and then taking items from a nearby pickup bed. Items valued at over $2000 included a decoy sled, 2 decoy bags, 18 hand carved decoys and a gas can. The man then left heading towards Delaware .


With the assistance of Delaware State Police contact was made with the man who admitted taking most of the items. The man advised he suffers from PTSD and can’t explain why he took the items. The following day the man brought the items to the Sheriff’s Office.
