Queen Anne's County is rated as the safest county to live, work, and play on the Eastern Shore of Maryland! Crime statistics report an overall downward trend in crime based on data from 15 years.

Based on this trend, the crime rate in Queen Anne's County in 2025 is expected to be lower than in 2019. The crime rate was lower than the national violent crime rate average by 78.4% Property crime rates were lower than the statewide crime rate average by 89.9%. The number one complaint in our county is speeding!

  • Dial 988 for crisis support with substance use or mental health.
  • Text MDHope to 898211 to get connected to substance use treatment centers near you and prescription drug disposal sites. MDHope is free and confidential, and specializes in local opioid resources and support.
  • The Eastern Shore Crisis Hotline can be reached by calling 888-407-8018. You will be connected to a trained crisis phone counselor who will provide confidential support and resources at no cost. If necessary, a mobile crisis team will come to you to offer support. This resource is available to Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester County residents. To learn more visit Mid Shore Behavioral Health's website.

The Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff accepts the safe disposal of both prescription and illegal drugs 24/7/365 - no questions asked. Residents can turn in these items for destruction at our office, located at 505 Railroad Avenue, Centreville, MD or by calling our non-emergency number at 410-758-0770. No sharps please.

Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adults 

  • The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provides Resources for Child Sexual Exploitation for Survivors, Caregivers & Families. To report child sexual exploitation call 1-800-843-7678 or visit their CyberTipline. 
  • Take It Down is a free service provided by the NCMEC that can help remove or stop the online sharing of nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit images or videos taken while you, or someone you know, was under the age of 18. This service is anonymous and happens without the image or video ever leaving your device or being viewed.
  • If you had nude images taken when you were over the age of 18,  that have been posted online, visit StopNCII.org to receive help getting them taken down. StopNCII is a free tool designed to support victims of Non-Consensual Intimate Image and Revenge Porn Abuse.
  • Learn step-by-step how to have explicit content of yourself removed from various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Discord, Reddit, Google and more by visiting this link.

Mental Health Treatment

  • Dial 9-8-8 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. This resource is free, confidential, and available 24/7. Follow the prompts to reach Veteran and Youth specific resources.
  • MD211 is the state's comprehensive health and human services information and referral system. They can be reached 24/7/365 online or by dialing 2-1-1.
  • The Maryland Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Mental Health Zip Code Resource Search is available online.
  • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline is a free, confidential, 24/7/365 treatment referral and information service for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders. They can be reached by calling 1-800-662-4357 or by texting your zip code to 435748.
  • The Veterans Crisis Line can be reached by dialing 9-8-8, then pressing 1, texting 838255, or by chatting online, regardless of if you are enrolled in VA benefits or health care.

Student & School Safety

  • The Maryland Center for School Safety, Safe Schools Tipline is an anonymous and free reporting system for students, teachers, parents, and the general public to report any Maryland school or student safety concern. Tips can be submitted online or by calling 1-833-632-7233. Emergency situations should be reported to law enforcement immediately.
    • Concerns may include but are not limited to: Firearms, Sexual Assault, Bullying, Dating Violence, Alcohol & Drug Use, Mental Health, Gang Violence, Fighting, Discrimination, Planned Parties, Truancy, Vaping, Terroristic Threats, Vandalism, and more.
