Sheriff Gary Hofmann is pleased to announce the promotion of four deputies at the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office.
After a written examination, an outside agency oral interview and a review of work history, the four were selected for promotions. Sgt. Mark Meil (39) has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1999 serving in the Patrol Division and Narcotic’s Task Force was promoted to the rank of 1st Sergeant assigned to administration. Meil who has prior experience with the Baltimore City Police and the US Marine Corp is recent graduate from the FBI National Academy. He also has served on the Sheriff’s SWAT Team and teaches defensive tactics and collapsible baton use.
Cpl. Mark Carr (38) began with the Sheriff’s Office in 2000 after being with Easton Police. In addition to assignments in Patrol, he was a K-9 handler, supervisor and instructor. Carr has also served on the Sheriff’s SWAT Team and as an EMT-Paramedic. Carr’s new assignment will be as a patrol squad supervisor.
Dfc. Jeremy Davidson (32) was most recently assigned as a School Resource Deputy. With his promotion to Corporal he will be assigned to the Patrol Division as an assistant patrol squad supervisor. Davidson has served in Patrol, Community Policing, on the Sheriff’s SWAT Team and in Professional Standards.
Dfc. John Brockman (38), has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2002. Most recently he has been assigned to the Patrol Division serving as an Acting Corporal. With his promotion to Corporal he will now officially be the assistant patrol squad supervisor on his squad. Brockman has also served as a detective with the Narcotics Task Force.
At a brief ceremony at the Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Sheriff Hofmann talked about the various accomplishments these deputies had made to improve the Sheriff’s Office, from working special events, serving on specialized units, to seeking grant funding, training other staff members and pursuing advanced education. “These deputies are the future leaders for the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff and I am proud to have them as members of my staff” stated Hofmann.
