INCIDENT: Reckless Endangerment involving a Handgun
DATE/ TIME: August 10, 2017 at 2248 hours.
LOCATION: 100 block Bateau Drive (Parking area Recycling Bins)Stevensville, Maryland
VICTIM: State of Maryland
NARRATIVE: On the above date and time, Dep. P. Sackrider was patrolling in the area of the Bateau Drive County Fishing Pond, Stevensville. Deputy Sackrider heard several shots in the area of the recycling bins. He began aggressively searching the area to determine where the shots came from. He observed a Ford Escort passenger car speeding from the area. Deputy Sackrider stopped the vehicle on Route 18 near Route 8. He found the owner of the vehicle to be the driver. Deputy Sackrider inquired as to why the male was in the area and began scanning the interior of the car. He observed shooting targets in the back seat of the vehicle. Deputy Sackrider asked the driver if he could search the interior of the car. The driver agreed and admitted there was a handgun under the driver seat. The male was asked to step out of the car and Deputy Sackrider was able to locate a loaded Ruger .380 handgun under the driver seat. The gun was legally registered to the male. The male admitted to shooting the fiberglass recycling bins to practice shooting the gun. The male was placed under arrest for Reckless Endangerment. The male was taken before the District Court Commissioner and is pending his initial appearance.
