Queen Anne’s County Annual Fireworks and Family Fun Celebration set for July 1st.
The Queen Anne's County Independence Day Celebration is set for July 1, 2026. This annual local event provides a promising and unforgettable experience for families and friends in the heart of Kent Narrows at the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with a rain date scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2026.
This year's event will once again be hosted on the lawn next to the visitor's center, offering the perfect setting for a celebration. Attendees are encouraged to bring their chairs or blankets and enjoy the complimentary family activities. The evening will conclude with the much-anticipated fireworks display.

Location: Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center & Ferry Point Park

Time
- Parking Opens at 5:30PM, Shuttle Service Starts at 6:00PM
- Family Activities Commence at 6:00PM
- Fireworks Display at 9:15PM
Parking:
Parking is available at Kent Island High School and Grasonville Elementary School, free shuttle service provided. Parking at the Old Kent Narrows Outlets will be extremely limited.
Shuttles to the event will begin operating at 6:00PM.
Road Closures & Detours
- Ferry Point Park will be CLOSED from sunset Tuesday, June 30 through Thursday, July 2 (pending rain date).
- The Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center parking lot will be CLOSED from sunset Tuesday, June 30 through sunrise Thursday, July 2.
- Swan Cove at Piney Narrows Road will be blocked beginning at 4:00 PM.
- Piney Narrows Road at the old outlets entrance will be blocked beginning at 5:00 PM.
- Rt. 18 Waterman's Memorial Bridge ("Old Kent Narrows Bridge) will be closed at 8PM for all traffic. E/B will be directed to Piney Narrows Road to access Rt. 50. W/B will be directed to Kent Narrows Way North to access Rt. 50.
- Exit 41 ( Rt. 50 W/B) will close at 9:30PM and reopen once all traffic has cleared.
- No shoulder parking will be allowed on the Kent Narrows Bridge.
- Multiple Traffic Control Points will be set up at the event by the Sheriff's Office. Please pay close attention while driving and follow their instructions for a safe exit.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detours for everyone's safety.
