INCIDENT:           DWI

DATE / TIME:      07/02/2015 @ 0035 Hours

LOCATION:         RT 50 @ RT 8, Stevensville

 

DETAILS:              Deputy saw a black pickup leave the traveling portion of W/B RT 50 and then make a sudden turn to exit at RT 8 cutting off another vehicle. The truck made two left turns taking it back on E/B RT 50 and seen again going the roadway. The truck was stopped and the driver identified as John Hamilton Hubbard Jr. (54) of Stevensville.

 

Based on the driver’s actions and an odor of Alcoholic Beverages, Mr. Hubbard was asked to attempt several field sobriety tasks. Based on his attempts at the standardized field sobriety tasks, Mr. Hubbard was placed under arrest and charged with DWI. He was later released on his signature and to a sober family member.

DATE / TIME:      07/02/2015 @ 1007 Hours

LOCATION:         1100 Block of Little Creek Road, Chester

 

DETAILS:              Theodore Lee Jr. reported eleven sets of chipper blades missing from his shop. The victim believes the blades were taken some time since June 30th and are valued at $3000.

LOCATION:         Wye Knot Court, Queenstown

 

DETAILS:              Residents in the area reported a mailbox vandalized and spray painted anti-homosexual statements on a stop sign and roadway.

LOCATION:         Kent Narrows Park & Ride, Grasonville

 

DETAILS:              Sandra Bailey reported returning to her car after work and found a rear window broken out. Victim stated she did not see anything missing. Damages were estimated at $475.

INCIDENT:           Theft

DATE / TIME:      07/03/2015 @ 1646 Hours

LOCATION:         1213 Shopping Center Drive, Stevensville

 

DETAILS:              Deputies responded to the Dollar General Store for a reported shoplifting. Two females were located in the parking lot with numerous items from Dollar General. Security footage showed the two females in the store for nearly 2 hours and then leaving with items not paid for.

 

Items stolen included coffee drinks, nail polish, hair care products, snack foods and bathroom toiletries valued at $170.

 

Kathleen Megan Arnold (32) of Riva, MD and Kara Mae Brady (35) of Annapolis were taken into custody and charged with theft. Arnold was also charged with CDS Possession of suspected Alprazolam. Brady was released by a District Court Commissioner on her own recognizance. Arnold was held at the Detention Center until a $1000 bail was posted.

INCIDENT:           Assault

DATE / TIME:      07/04/2015 @ 0126 Hours

LOCATION:         6520 Church Hill Road, Chestertown (QA)

 

DETAILS:              Deputies responded to an assault outside of Howards bar. On arrival they located a male, later identified as Christopher Horan bleeding from the head. A second victim was located at the rear of the bar being attended to by EMS personnel. Identification on the subject indicated his name as Nathan Cryder of Delaware.

 

Investigation indicates that Cryder was standing outside the bar when several males and a female attacked him. He was punched, thrown into a brick wall and once on the ground was continued to be punched and kicked. His attackers while assaulted him were calling him various names.

 

At this time Horan went to aid Cryder and was assaulted the group. A third individual reportedly laid over Cryder until the group stopped attacking him and was also punched and kicked.

 

Cryder was flown to Shock Trauma for numerous injuries and later released in the day. Investigation has identified some of the suspects and charges are pending.

INCIDENT:           DWI

DATE / TIME:      07/04/2015 @ 1628 Hours

LOCATION:         RT 301 near Greenspring Road, Queenstown

 

DETAILS:              MSP issued a look-out for a white Dodge pickup for speeding and hitting several orange road construction barrels at RT 301 & RT 304 intersection. A short time later, a deputy clocked a white Dodge pickup doing 82 MPH on southbound RT 301.

 

The Dodge was stopped near Queenstown and the driver identified as Michael Clay Shumate (40) of Bear, Delaware. An odor of alcoholic beverage was noticed along with a half emptied bottle of Jack Daniels. Driver stated he was going from Crystal Lake, DE to his home in Bear DE.

 

Several Field Sobriety Tasks were attempted and resulted in Shumate’s arrest for DWI. A District Court Commissioner held Shumate on a $7500 until bail was posted on July 5th.
