DETAILS: Store Manager of Lenox Factory Store reported that a rear door had been damaged sometime during the night of 8/31 to 9/1, when unknown suspect attempted to pry the door open. No entry was made but damages were estimated at $1000.

LOCATION: 100 Block of Timber Lane, Grasonville
DETAILS: Robert Arakelian reported a family heirloom diamond necklace was missing after a family gathering at the residence on August 28th. The diamond necklace was discovered missing the following day and was valued at $3000. Investigation remains open.

DETAILS: Philip Starkey reported finding the concession stand at the park had been broken into during the night. About $50 of candy and chewing gum was missing. Minor damage was done to the building.

DETAILS: Owners of the New Canton Chinese Restaurant in the Kent Town Market reported someone had broken into the business and had taken cash and coins. The burglary is believed to have occurred after midnight.

INCIDENT: Theft from Vehicle
DATE / TIME: 09/04/2015 @ 0953 Hours
LOCATION: 400 Block of Dominion Road, Chester, MD
DETAILS: Victim James Hazel 3rd reported cashing a large check on September 3rd and left the entire amount of cash in the center console of his truck. Victim advised he parked the truck at his residence about 11 PM. This morning at 8 AM he found his passenger window smashed and the cash was gone.
Damages and loss was estimated at almost $19,000.

INCIDENT: Counterfeit Cash
DATE / TIME: 09/04/2015 @ 1216 Hours
LOCATION: 1132 Shopping Center Road, Stevensville
DETAILS: Manager at Dunkin Donuts Leanna Simmons discovered that a $20 bill taken that morning felt strange. After checking the bill with a counterfeit marking pen she confirmed the bill was fake. The bill was placed into evidence and the Secret Service advised.

INCIDENT: BURGLARIES
DATE / TIME: 09/04/2015 @ 2101 Hours (Reported)
LOCATION: See Narrative
DETAILS: Deputy responded to 500 Block of Caspian Drive in Grasonville for a burglary which occurred earlier that morning. Michael Riley stated sometime between the hours of 0100 to 0600 someone entered the residence and removed five handguns from a locked gun cabinet. The guns were described as a Glock 22, S&W 38, Colt .38 Detective Special, a .380 automatic and a .32 automatic and valued at $2400. Victim advised he and his family were home at the time of the burglary and that the rear door had been left unlocked.
In the same 500 block, Alison Warren reported finding her rear door open that morning and was missing a small amount of cash, cigarettes and alcohol.
Robert Calhoun in the 600 block reported the theft of beer and canned mixed drinks from an outside bar.
One street over on the 100 block of Jewell Court, Walter George stated someone had entered his garage during the night and stole a long board skateboard with painted blue waves valued at $200. Victim advised the garage door was open.
Further down Jewell Court, Travis Hess reported the theft of a case & ½ of beer and $20 from his wallet after accessing the garage thru an unlocked door.
The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit has been assigned all of these cases.

INCIDENT: Assault / Reckless Endangerment
DATE / TIME: 09/05/2015 @ 1631 Hours
LOCATION: 100 Block of Johnson Lane, Queenstown
DETAILS: Deputies responded to location for a report of a man firing a shotgun at his son. On arrival two men were located in the front yard and were detained.
Investigation revealed one man was not involved and was released. The second subject was identified as Daniel Joseph Ward Sr. (49) of Queenstown. It was learned that Mr. Ward had been involved in an argument with his 18 year old son over changing oil in a friend’s car.
When the son refused to leave, Mr. Ward retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun from the residence and fired the weapon. Mr. Ward stated he had fired the weapon into the ground while the son advised it had been fired over his head. No indication was found to indicate it had been fired in the ground.
Ward was charged with 1st and 2nd Degree assault and Reckless Endangerment. He was held by a District Court Commissioner until a $15,000 bond was posted.
