INCIDENT: DWI Arrest
DATE / TIME: 10/08/2016 @ 0033 Hours
LOCATION: RT 8 / Bay City Road, Stevensville
DETAILS: A white Ford SUV with VA plates was stopped for failure to dim lights to oncoming traffic, one of which was a patrol car. Driver was identified as Christopher Michael Long (46) of Stevensville. While speaking with the driver an odor of alcohol was present. When asked, the driver denied having anything to drink.
Driver was asked to attempt several field sobriety tasks which he was unable to complete correctly. It was also learned that his Virginia driver’s license was not valid and he did not have a Maryland license.
Long was issued citations for DWI and Driving without a license and then released at the scene.

INCIDENT: Theft

LOCATION: 100 Block of Wood Duck Lane, Chestertown (QA)
DETAILS: Victim reported the theft of five orange parking reflectors from his property sometime overnight. The reflectors were valued at $50.

INCIDENT: Possession of CDS with Intent
DATE / TIME: 10/10/2016 @ 1120 Hours
LOCATION: RT 309 near Fox Meadow Road, Queen Anne
DETAILS: Deputy working radar in the area stopped a gold colored Mercury Grand Marquis for traffic and equipment violations. While speaking with the two occupants, a strong odor of marijuana was noted.
A search of the vehicle located several baggies of suspected marijuana (estimated 40 grams), a digital scale and a grinder.
The driver, Melvin George Moran (36) of Annapolis was charged with Possession with Intent to distribute marijuana, Possession of CDS paraphernalia and traffic violations. His vehicle was seized by the QA Drug Task Force and charges are pending for the passenger. Moran was later released on his own recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

INCIDENT: Theft from Motor Vehicle
DATE / TIME: 10/11/2016 @ 0852 Hours
LOCATION: 200 Block of Washington Drive, Stevensville
DETAILS: Victim reported that his truck had been damaged to gain access and that an estimated $6.00 in change was taken. Damages were estimated at $500.

INCIDENT: Domestic Assault
DATE / TIME: 10/15/2016 @ 2120 Hours
LOCATION: Lowery Road, Stevensville
DETAILS: Deputies called to the residence for a domestic. On arrival they were met by a female who reported an argument between her and a male subject which had escalated when she attempted to force open a bedroom door. The male had locked himself in the room and upon her entry a struggle then occurred. Reportedly the female was pushed to the floor, then grabbed by wrists and drug across the floor. She reported being slapped on her face. Injuries appeared to be consistent with the reported incident.
Donald William Ringer (47) of Stevensville was charged with 2nd degree assault. Following processing, a District Court Commissioner released him on a $25,000 unsecured bond.

INCIDENT: Thefts from Motor Vehicles
DATE / TIME: 10/19/2016 @ 0645 Hours
LOCATION: Buckingham Drive, Bayside Drive, Chesapeake Drive, Bay City, Stevensville
DETAILS: Numerous reports of tampering and thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Bay City Community overnight. Items included a laptop computer, a leather pouch with hygiene products and membership cards, Buck knife, cash, change, sunglasses, men’s diamond wrist watch, gold link bracelet, a diamond ring, Go-pro camera, and Garmin GPS.
Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the area for follow-up. Using the tracking app to locate one of the stolen items led detectives to a residence on Chesapeake Drive.
While preparing a Search Warrant for the residence, it was learned that the item was now moving. The signal lasted until it showed that the item was now on Red Lion Branch Road where it was shut off.
It was also learned the several jewelry items had been pawned at TNT Jewelers in Chester receiving $775.00 dollars.
Based on the investigation an Arrest Warrant was issued for Tyler Lee Custer (22) with a last known address in Centreville or North Carolina. It was also learned that Custer is awaiting a jury trial in Talbot County for theft from vehicles.

INCIDENT: Theft
DATE / TIME: 10/19/2016 @ 2016 Hours
LOCATION: Goodhands Creek Landing, Chester
DETAILS: Victim reported the theft of his Mongoose mountain bike from Goodhands Creek landing. The victim stays on a sailboat moored off of the landing and leaves his bike hidden in the area.
The bike was described as having a chrome frame and shocks with a LED light valued at$226.

INCIDENT: Theft from Motor Vehicle
DATE / TIME: 10/20/2016 @ 0145 Hours
LOCATION: 201 Romancoke Road, Stevensville
DETAILS: Victim reported stopping at the Valero on RT 8 and being in the store 1o or so minutes. While in the store video shows an older possibly green BMW 4 door pulling up to get gas. While the male came in the store, a female passenger entered the victim’s car and stole $40 cash and a bottle of prescription meds.

INCIDENT: DWI
DATE / TIME: 10/21/2016 @ 0100 Hours
LOCATION: W/B RT 50 @ Kent Narrows
DETAILS: Deputy on patrol saw a vehicle approaching him at a high rate of speed, passing the patrol car and then swerving across several lanes. The red pickup was then stopped and the driver identified as Christopher Thomas Giles (25) of Eastport, MD.
A strong odor of alcohol was noted coming from the vehicle, beer on the passenger floorboard and several indicators (slurred speech–glassy eyes) that the driver had been drinking.
Giles was asked to attempt several standardized field sobriety tasks. Giles attempted the tasks and eventually stated “it’s no point”.
He was placed under arrest for DWI, transported to Centreville and later released to a sober driver.

INCIDENT: Burglary / Theft
DATE / TIME: 10/21/2016 @ 1456 Hours
LOCATION: 600 Block of Carmichael Road, Queenstown
DETAILS: Victim reported upon returning to his home someone had broken in to his residence stealing a Dell laptop, a printer and a Scott Tchau violin & bow, a Yamaha acoustic guitar, a Kentucky wooden mandolin, a couple of music tuners and a camcorder with a total loss of $6000.
The victim stated he did not have any suspects in mind, however he did mention that a painting company had been there last week for some exterior painting. The company was contacted and identified the painter as James Gibson Hubbard (48) of Baltimore but had fired Hubbard.
Pawn records showed that on the day of the burglary, Hubbard had sold the items to a pawn shop in Baltimore. Detectives were able to recover all of the items except for the printer.
The painting company advised that Hubbard is believed to have moved back Connecticut and that they were charging him with the theft of tools.
Currently there is an Arrest Warrant on file for James G. Hubbard.
