INCIDENT:           Attempted Burglary

NARRATIVE:      Victim reported that upon returning to her home on the 16th, she found that someone had attempted to gain entry into the house by prying the doors. No evidence that entry was made and the damage was estimated at $80.

DATE/TIME:        11/18/2011 @ 0640 Hours

LOCATION:        800 Main Street, Stevensville

VICTIM:                Ram’s Head Shore House, Stevensville

ARREST:              George Edward Dement (49) of Stevensville MD

 

NARRATIVE:      Sheriff Gary Hofmann reports that on November 18th the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff received a report of a forced entry and theft from a van parked at the Ram’s Head Shore House located at 800 Main St. Stevensville, MD.  Deputies from the Patrol Division responded for the initial report and were later assisted by members of the Criminal Investigations Unit for the investigation of this complaint. 

 

Witnesses reported that a Caucasian male operating a blue pickup truck was observed in the area of a white van parked in the rear parking lot of the Ram’s Head Shore House.  A short time later a loud noise was heard and witnesses observed that the rear doors of the van had been damaged and forced open. The suspect and the blue pickup truck were observed leaving the parking lot.  An employee of the Ram’s Head Shore House on his way into work was passed by a blue pickup truck traveling west on Main St near the area of the Ram’s Head Shore House.  The employee then followed the blue pickup truck and observed it parked in the driveway at 101 State St. Stevensville, MD.  The suspect was later identified as George Edward Dement as the owner of the truck and resident of 101 State Street. Employees positively identified George Dement as the person the observed exiting the blue pickup truck carrying a box and entering the 101 State St. residence.

 

George Dement was placed under arrest and follow-up by the Criminal Investigations Unit resulted in the issuance of a search and seizure warrant for the 101 State Street residence. Upon the service of the Search Warrant, detectives seized items of suspected physical evidence as well as possible stolen items.

 

George Edward Dement was charged with MDOP: Value over $500, MDOP: Value Less Than $500, Theft: Value Less than $1000 and Rogue and Vagabond. He was processed at the Sheriff’s Office then taken before a District Court Commissioner who released him on his personal recognizance. The van had an estimated damage of $500 and the stolen items (tubes of caulk) were valued at $200.

 

Detectives also seized numerous pieces of various types of feminine jewelry. Sheriff Hofmann is requesting that anyone who has been the victim of a theft of female style jewelry please contact the Office of the Sheriff and D/Cpl. Stephen Stouffer.  The investigation remains open and anyone with information concerning these events is urged to contact the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff.

NARRATIVE:      Victim reported that an unknown person had stolen the key to her 2000 Mercedes Convertible. The car was unsecured with the key valued at $100 was left under the floor mat. Victim believes the theft occurred around 3 AM that morning due to her dog barking.

INCIDENT:           DWI Arrest

LOCATION:        Rt. 213 near Rt. 309 near Centreville

ARREST:              Randall Mark Tolson Jr. (21) of Centreville

CHARGES:           DWI, Reckless Driving, Negligent driving and Driving on suspended registration

 

NARRATIVE:      Dfc. Fraser saw a black 1997 Mustang going 40 MPH in a 50 MPH zone, swerving in its lane and the rear bumper appeared to be dragging on the roadway. The vehicle was stopped on Rolling Bridge Road and the driver identified as Randall Tolson Jr. The driver had difficulty locating his driver’s license and there was a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. Driver was asked to attempt field sobriety tasks and afterward was placed under arrest. After being issued citations, Tolson was released to a parent.

INCIDENT:           Theft from Vehicle

LOCATION:        300 Block of Chenowith Drive, Stevensville

VICTIM:                See Narrative

 

NARRATIVE:      Victims reported at 0737, their vehicles had been entered during the night. Jaclyn Fox reported her Nissan had the window smashed and cash taken from her purse. Mr. Stevens of the same address reported that his work vehicle, a Nissan Cube had also been entered and the contents scattered inside. One of the victims advised that they thought they saw a silhouette of a person around 2 AM in the driveway but dismissed it at the time.

 

At the 500 block of Victoria Drive @ 1347 Hours, Donald Aston reported the window of his 2007 Chrysler van had been smashed with nothing appearing to be missing.

 

The next morning Robert Camilleri of the 300 block of Chenowith Drive realized that his wallet with $150, social security card and nursing certificates was missing from his Toyota Sienna. The wallet had been left on the seat of the unsecured vehicle.

LOCATION:        400 Block of Walker Road, Stevensville

VICTIM:                William W. Walker of Stevensville

ARREST:              William Jennings Baxter Jr. (26) of Chester, MD

 

NARRATIVE:      Victim reported seeing a red Chevrolet pickup on his property and a short time later discovered he was missing a blue kimulator tank, a 10 pound sledge pipe handle, a frame hitch and a chrome vehicle bumper. Items were valued at under $100. The victim was able to provide a description of the driver as well as a possible tag number.

 

The responding deputy, Seth Ambrose recalled seeing the truck earlier on Main S and that there was a blue tank in the bed of the truck. Deputy Ambrose went to the suspects residence on Dominion road and located the suspect, William Baxter Jr. just as he was leaving. As Ambrose went to make contact with Baxter, he threw a spoon and needles wrapped in a shoe string into the truck bed.

 

Baxter was placed under arrest and was found to have two receipts from Schultz & Son Salvage from earlier that morning for the stolen items. Baxter was charged with three Theft charges, and after processing a District Court Commissioner released him on his personal recognizance.

INCIDENT:           Strong Arm Robbery

LOCATION:        5000 Block of Main Street, Grasonville

ARREST:              Male (17) of Grasonville

SUSPECT:            Male (23) of Grasonville

 

NARRATIVE:      It was reported that the two boys (14 & 15) were walking on Main Street in Grasonville when the suspects called them over to a residence. The 15 year old victim was then pulled into the residence, searched and his Apple Ipod taken from him. He was then held down on a sofa and not released until he gave up the pass code. During this time, the second victim was held in a headlock, searched and his cell phone was taken. The second suspect allegedly made a call to his girlfriend, deleted that call and returned the phone to the victim.

 

The two victims then were allowed to leave, uninjured and immediately called the Sheriff’s Office. The parent of the juvenile suspect was contacted and she responded to the location meeting with Deputy Bassaro. The parent advised that her son was currently on House detention thru Juvenile Services. The suspect was then contacted, denied taking the Ipod saying the victim had lent it to him. The Ipod was recovered and the suspect taken into custody. After processing the suspect was turned over to Juvenile Services. Charges are pending on the second individual and the case remains open.

INCIDENT:           Loud Party Complaint / Underage Possession of Alcohol

NARRATIVE:      Deputies responded to location for a loud party complaint. On arrival several subjects were observed running from the house. A resident of the house, Taylor Clayton met the deputies and reported she was having a small party when people began to show up and brought alcohol. It was determined that Ms. Clayton had been drinking. Others detained at the scene where also found to have been consuming alcohol and issued citations. Numerous beer cans were located in the front yard and rear yard.  Also located in the rear yard were several bottles of flavored vodka, spiced rum, and wine.

NARRATIVE:      Victims reported being away from the residence since 11/15 and upon returning noticed doors ajar and closets appearing to have been rummaged thru. Several items were reported missing including a Japanese Bayonet, a Chief of Police badge, and several cans of 1991 Harley Davidson beer. Stolen items were valued at $500.

 

The investigation remains open and assigned to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation unit.

VICTIM:                Joanne C. Sherwood of Stevensville

 

NARRATIVE:      Victim reported being away from the residence and upon returning home on Sunday evening they learned that their son had a party at the home on Saturday evening with 20-30 persons attending. It was reported that one subject was “rough housing” on the basement steps and damaged a wall. It was also found that $400 from their bedroom, an Ipod from the kitchen and a jug of change that was near the front door was missing.
