INCIDENT: Attempted 1st Degree Murder

VICTIM: Monique Evette Harris of Rock Hall, MD
ARREST: Antonio Jamal Harris (20) of Barclay

NARRATIVE: Sheriff Gary Hofmann reports that on January 12, 2012 at approximately 2008 hours deputies responded to 1418 Barclay Road, Barclay, Marylandin response to a 911 call. No information was provided in the initial 911 call, however a disturbance could be heard by 911 personnel in the background. A call back to the residence could not establish contact with parties at the residence. Upon arrival at the residence Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the occupants of the residence and were advised that there was not a problem at the residence.
At approximately 2050 hours the Maryland State Police received a call from ChesterRiver Hospitalin regards to an assault victim located at their facility. Upon making a response it was learned that this assault was related to the earlier call from 1418 Barclay Road. At this time Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the hospital and the investigation was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office.
At the hospital Monique Evette Harris reported to detectives that she had been shot by at Antonio Jamal Harris while leaving 1418 Barclay Roadin her Nissan Maxima. The victim advised that she was leaving the suspect’s residence and he had ordered her to stop and when she continued to leave, the suspect had used a long gun to shoot at her. The victim advised she continued to flee from the area driving herself to Chester RiverHospital. Monique after suffering minor injuries to her face from glass shards from the shot out window of her vehicle.
Following additional investigation Sheriff’s Deputies returned to the Barclay Road, residence of the suspect and a search and seizure warrant was executed at this location. The suspect, Antonio Harris was taken into custody and has been charged with the following charges:
Attempted First Degree Murder / Attempted Second Degree Murder / First Degree Assault / Second Degree Assault / Reckless Endangerment
A District Court Commissioner saw Harris this morning and a No Bail status was set.
