INCIDENT:  Possession of Marijuana less than 10 grams

DATE / TIME:   02/06/2018 @ 7:38PM

LOCATION:  Dudley Corner Road @ McGinnes Road Chestertown, MD 21620

CHARGED:  Lashonda Newnam 32yo female from Chestertown, MD

Michelle Henley 25yo female from Worton, MD

DETAILS:   Dfc. Cooper was working traffic enforcement in the area of the town of Crumpton.  Dfc. Cooper observed a silver passenger car approach the stop sign at McGinnis Road and Dudley Corner Road and not come to a complete stop.  Dfc. Cooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  A search was conducted and less than 10 grams of marijuana was located.  Both subjects claimed ownership of the contraband and were issued civil citations and released on scene.

INCIDENT:  Possession of Marijuana less than 10 grams

LOCATION:  Main Street @ Castle Marina Road Chester, MD 21619

CHARGED:  Devin Leahey 20yo male from Chester, MD

DETAILS:  While on patrol, Dep. Barlow observed a red Acura traveling on Main Street with no headlights on.  Dep. Barlow conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and upon approaching the driver, she detected the odor of marijuana.  A search of Leahey’s person, resulted in the seizure of suspected marijuana under 10 grams.  He was issued a civil citation and released on scene.

INCIDENT:    Theft of a Cell Phone

DATE / TIME:  2/6/18 at 12:00PM

LOCATION:  300 blk Brownsville Rd., Centreville, Md. 21617

DETAIL:    QACSO  unit responded for the past theft of a cell phone. The victim advised that he had ordered a cell phone (I Phone X, grey in color, valued at $1,000) from SPRINT. The phone was apparently delivered to the wrong address a few houses away, sometime between 2/5/18 and 2/6/18. Dep. Patikowski responded to the other address and discovered the box the phone was delivered in had been opened and the phone stolen. No one at this other residence had any suspect info. Anyone with info, contact QACSO.

INCIDENT:                     Malicious destruction of property

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:        2/7/18    9:22am

LOCATION:               Route 18 @ Perlee Road Centreville, MD 21617

VICTIM:                               Centreville, MD

NARRATIVE:                         Dep. Thomas responded to the Alternative School located at 202 Chesterfield Avenue in Centreville for a report of malicious destruction of property. Upon arrival, Dep. Thomas learned that the victim was taking her 16 year old son to school an argument took place while driving to the school. The juvenile exited the vehicle in the area of Route 18 and Perlee Road. The juvenile then began to kick his mother’s vehicle, causing an estimated $500.00 in damage. This case remains open pending juvenile charges.

INCIDENT:                     Fraud/Telephone Scam

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:        2/7/18       10:45 am

LOCATION:               300 Block of Cove Creek Road in Stevensville, MD

VICTIM:                               Stevensville, MD

NARRATIVE:                         Cpl. Hartmetz responded to the 300 Block of Cove Creek road in reference to a telephone scam. Upon arrival, the victim advised that she received a phone call from an unknown subject, claiming to be her grandson. The caller stated that he was being detained and needed money to post bail. The victim sent $6000 cash to an address in Miami, FL and soon after realized she had been scammed. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Cpl. Sheriff Hofmann encourages anyone who receives a call like this to first call the Sheriff’s Office to make sure it is not a scam before making any attempt of payment.

INCIDENT:                     Recovered property

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:        2/7/18       7:50 am

LOCATION:               105 Clay Drive Queenstown MD 21658 @ Royal Farms

NARRATIVE:  Dep. Jarrett was on patrol in the area of the Royal Farms store located at 105 Clay Drive Queenstown, MD. He was approached by a gentleman who had located 3 spent shell casings in the parking lot of the Royal Farms. It appeared that the casings were .45 caliber rounds. It is unknown at this time how they ended up in the parking lot. This case remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep.
