PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT: Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and Paraphernalia
DATE / TIME: 6/18/18 at 6:49 AM
LOCATION: Safe Haven Manor, 100 Blk of Charles St in Sudlersville, MD 21668
DETAILS: Dep. Bush responded to the above location in reference to located CDS. The caller advised that the CDS belonged to an employee at Safe Haven Assisted Living. Once deputies arrived, the suspect departed the scene. Deputies later found the suspect on foot. The CDS located at the scene is believed to be heroin and paraphernalia. The items were sent to the laboratory for examination. If the items are confirmed as CDS, the employee is subjected to be charged at a later date.

INCIDENT: Theft: Less than $1,000
DATE / TIME: 6/18/18 at 11:56 AM
LOCATION: Crumpton Post Office in Crumpton, MD 21628
SUSPECT: Samuel G. Hurlock Jr., 62yo male of Crumpton
VICTIM: 50yo female of Crumpton, MD
DETAILS: Cpl Bassaro responded to the address of 2200 Blk of Dudley Corner Rd regarding a report of a theft. Upon arrival, Cpl. Bassaro made contact with the victim. The victim advised that while at the Crumpton post office, the suspect stole her cell phone, money, and rubber gloves from inside her vehicle. The victim stated that she made contact with the suspect in the parking lot. The suspect told her he had mistaken her vehicle with his and apologized. The victim was able to recover her gloves and money. When she arrived home, she realized that her phone was missing. While Cpl Bassaro was at the residence, the suspect came to the residence and returned her cell phone. The suspect was positively identified and the victim was provided with his information. The victim was referred to the commissioner and advised on how she could apply for charges.

INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP): Less than $1,000
DATE / TIME: 6/18/18 at 1:34 PM
LOCATION: A Storage Depo in Chestertown
COMPLAINANT: Stewart Johnson, 36yo male of Rock Hall
VICTIM: A Storage Depo in Chestertown, MD 21620
DETAILS: Cpl Bassaro responded to the above address for a report of an MDOP. Upon arrival, Cpl. Bassaro made contact with the complainant. The complainant advised that on 6/17/18 at approximately 6:00 PM, he was made aware of some damage done to the hasp locking mechanism on a storage unit door. The complainant also confirmed there were pry marks on the unit door. The damage was estimated to be approximately $100. No suspects were identified.
