PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT: Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS)
DATE / TIME: 8/06/18 at approximately 11:15 pm
LOCATION: Route 19 at Carter Road in Church Hill, MD
DRIVER: Derick Barjolo, 36yo male from Dover, DE
DETAILS: Deputies were in the area of Route 19 at Carter Road when they observed a silver 2009 Audi A6 traveling above the posted speed limit. Deputy Bradley conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Derick Barjolo. While speaking with Barjolo, Deputy Bradley saw a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana in plain view. Subsequently, deputies recovered less than 10 grams of marijuana from the vehicle. Barjolo was issued a civil citation for possessing less than 10 grams of marijuana.

INCIDENT: Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS)
DATE / TIME: 8/07/18 at approximately 9:00 pm
LOCATION: Route 213 at Round Top Road in Chestertown, MD
DRIVER: David Kost, 51yo male from Pasadena, MD
DETAILS: Deputy Barlow was conducting patrol in the area of Route 213 and Round Top Road when she observed a silver 2004 Mazda Tribute traveling without two working headlights. Deputy Barlow conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as David Kost. A check through the Motor Vehicle Administration was conducted to verify Kost’s license. The check revealed that Kost’s license was suspended. Based on additional criminal indicators observed during the course of the traffic stop, a K-9 was called to the scene to complete a scan of the vehicle. The scan resulted in a positive identification of a possible controlled dangerous substance. A search of the vehicle was completed and less than 10 grams of marijuana was recovered. Kost was issued a civil citation for the possession of marijuana and a traffic citation for having a suspended license. Kost’s passenger, who possessed a valid driver’s license, was able to drive the vehicle.

INCIDENT: Fraud
DATE / TIME: 8/07/18 at approximately 7:16 am
LOCATION: 2700 Block of Sherman Drive, Chester, MD
VICTIM: 47yo male from Chester, MD
DETAILS: Deputy First Class (DFC) Dickey responded to the above address in reference to a report of fraud. The victim’s stated that he received a bill from Verizon Wireless in the mail. He advised that he had a previous account with Verizon Wireless that was closed a few years ago. Verizon Wireless confirmed that the victim’s previous account had no balance. However, Verizon wireless informed the victim that a new account was opened under the victim’s name. This investigation is ongoing.

INCIDENT: Theft
DATE: 08/07/2018 at approximately 10:00 am
LOCATION: 121 Rental Lane, Grasonville, MD
VICTIM: A & M Marine Services Inc.
DETAILS: Deputy Carnaggio responded to the above location in reference to a past theft. The complainant, an employee of the A&M Marine Services Inc., stated that five boats were missing their batteries and VHF radios. The employee believes that the items were stolen between July 23rd and August 7th. The employee estimated that the value of each battery was about $150 and each radio was about $500. INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP)
DATE / TIME: 8/07/18 at approximately 4:00 pm
LOCATION: 5435 Main Street, Grasonville, MD
VICTIM: Grasonville Elementary School
DETAILS: Deputy Carnaggio responded to the above location in reference to a malicious destruction of property. According to the principal of the Grasonville Elementary School, she discovered a portion of the fence in front of the school playground had been damaged. While reviewing the surveillance video from August 2nd, the principal saw three African American males approximately between the ages of 9-15 grabbing the fence and pulling it to the ground.
