PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT:                              Suspicious Vehicle Investigation leads to Drug Citation

DATE/TIME REPORTED:        August 14, 2017 at 2235 hours.

LOCATION:                             Kent Island High School, Stevensville Maryland

VICTIM:                                  State of Maryland

 

NARRATIVE:              On the above date and time, Dep. P. Sackrider was patrolling in the area of the Kent Island High School when he observed several vehicles in the parking lot to the high school.  The Deputy followed one of the vehicles from the parking lot and performed a vehicle stop near the Cloverfields Community.  K-9 handler Dfc. M. Piasecki and his K-9 partner were in the area and responded to assist. The Deputy inquired to why the driver was at the high school and the 17 year old driver (only person in the vehicle) stated he was going to play basketball with some of his friends.  K-9 arrived and performed a scan of the detained vehicle during the course of the investigation and a positive K-9 alert was given.  A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed less than ten grams of Marijuana.  The driver of the vehicle was cited for possession of less than ten grams of Marijuana and tobacco citations for other items located in the vehicle.  The driver was released to his parents pending a Juvenile Services review.
