INCIDENT: Armed Robbery

LOCATION: 2200 Block of Piney Creek Rd, Chester MD
DETAILS: On June 29, 2018, at approximately 10:42 p.m., units from the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff, Maryland Transportation Authority, Maryland State Police and Maryland Department of Natural Resources were dispatched to the Xtra Mart located at the 2200 block of Piney Creek Road in Chester, Md. The call was in reference to an armed robbery complaint. Deputies arrived within minutes and reported no injuries. According to a preliminary investigation, an unidentified male entered the store and demanded money. The suspect left with cash from the register. The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6ft in height, 150 pounds, wearing black shoes, black pants, black hoodie and orange gloves. The suspect was also reported to be armed with what appeared to be a possible sawed-off shotgun, single barrel.
K-9 units were able to track the suspect to a nearby parking lot. The area was thoroughly searched by K-9 and uniformed units from all agencies involved. Police used all possible resources to scan and search the area, yet all efforts yielded negative results. Surveillance video showed the suspect entering the store and brandishing what appeared to be a shotgun. This investigation is still ongoing.
