Third Annual Prescription Round-Up

 

 

Rx Round-Up is Nov. 13, and Nov. 15, 2012 in QAC

 

Queen Anne’s County residents can safely dispose of their unused and/or expired medications at two sites in Nov.  Rx Round-Up days are Tuesday Nov. 13, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Sudlersville Fire Dept. and Thurs. Nov. 15, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kent Island Fire Dept. Monday through Friday residents can drop off Rx medications at the QAC Office of the Sheriff in Centreville from 8-4p.m. year round.

 

The collections are sponsored by the QAC Dept. of Health Alcohol & Drug Prevention’s Office, Drug-Free Queen Anne’s Coalition, the QAC Office of the Sheriff, the MD State Police Centreville Barracks, Anne Arundel Medical Center, National American Medicine Chest Challenge, MD Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Local law enforcement officers will collect and destroy expired/unused prescription medications in accordance with Drug Enforcement Administration regulations.

 

Did you know?

–         One in five teens (4.5 million) has abused Rx drugs.

–         One in three teens report knowing someone who abuse Rx drugs.

–         One in three teens surveyed say there is “nothing wrong” with abusing Rx drugs “every once in a while.”

 

Improperly disposed prescription drugs have been linked to drug abuse and pollution of the nation’s waterways. Save the environment and protect our children by disposing of medications properly!

 

Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers about the Rx Round-Up. Help the Drug–Free Coalition to raise awareness about this national public health initiative about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.
