PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT:                  Fraud

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:        05/02/18 7:10 pm

LOCATION:               100 Blk Agnes Ln. Church Hill, MD

VICTIM:                                 28yr old female

NARRATIVE:                         On 5/2/18, Deputy Bennett spoke with the victim in reference to a fraud. The victim advised that she received a phone call from a Las Vegas area code informing her that she had a warrant through the Las Vegas Police Department for missing jury duty. The caller requested that she purchase $960 worth of prepaid gift cards and provide them with the account numbers in order to clear up the warrant. The victim then purchased the cards and provided the caller with the information allowing them to access the funds on the cards. After she did this, the victim began to realize she was the victim of a scam and then contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

INCIDENT:                  Theft: From Vehicle-Less than $1,000

LOCATION:               Terrapin Park Stevensville, MD

VICTIM:                     20yr old female

19yr old male

NARRATIVE: On 5/2/18, Deputy Pack spoke with the two victims in reference to a theft. They explained while at Terrapin Park, unknown suspect(s) broke the window to their 2012 Hyundai, Elantra.  Investigation revealed that both of their wallets were stolen from the inside of the vehicle.  The estimated value of the wallets was $50 dollars each.  The estimated value of the broken window is $200 dollars.  The victims then called the Sheriff’s Office.  Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

INCIDENT:                  Possession Marijuana under 10 grams        

DATE AND TIME REPORTED:        05/04/18 12:23 am

LOCATION:               Nichols Manor Drive and Love Point Rd, Stevensville

NARRATIVE:                         On 05-04-17 at 12:23 am, Dfc. Pack stopped grey passenger car for a traffic violation at Nichols Manor Drive and Love Point Road. While speaking with the driver and occupant, Dfc. Pack smelled the odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of Marijuana. Both the driver and the front seat occupant were issued civil citations for possession of Marijuana.
