INCIDENT: DWI
DATE / TIME: 04/25/2012 @ 0221 Hours
LOCATION: Liberty Street & Broadway, Centreville
ARREST: Keith William Whewell (39) of Ridgely
CHARGE: DWI
NARRATIVE: Sgt. Johnson was in Centreville stopped at a traffic light when a 1999 Dodge Caravan approached him going the wrong way. Sgt. Johnson noted that the van was being driven on a bare rim, and had damage to the driver’s side including paint scrapes and a missing mirror. The van was stopped and driver Identified as Keith Whewell who stated he knew the tire was flat, he was coming from No Place and he just wanted to get home. Odor of alcohol was present along with the driver’s difficulty locating a registration card. The driver was asked to step from the van and had difficulty keeping his balance. Field sobriety tasks were attempted and as a result Mr. Whewell was placed under arrest. After issuance of citations including DWI he was released to a sober family member.

ARREST: Amanda Lynn Brown (21) of Grasonville
CHARGE: DWI
NARRATIVE: A silver Mitsubishi Eclipse was observed by Dfc. Jordan making an improper turn, speeding and then crossing the center line and was stopped. The driver was identified as Amanda Brown of Grasonville. Ms. Brown had difficulty locating her registration card and license, had an odor of alcoholic beverage about her and was asked to attempt Field Sobriety Tasks. As a result, Ms. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to Centreville for processing. After being issued citations including DWI, she was released to a sober individual.

LOCATION: Queen Anne’s Emergency Room, Grasonville
VICTIM: John A. Jones Jr. of Chester
NARRATIVE: Dfc. Boyles was dispatched to the Emergency Room for a possible stabbing victim. On arrival he met with Mr. John Jones who had incurred to stab wounds on his arm. When questioned, Mr. jones advised he had an argument with someone, he was injured and refused any further information indicating he did not want any police action. His injuries were not serious.

LOCATION: RT 18 near Cheslou Road, Chester

NARRATIVE: Dfc. Boyles located a 1994 Cadillac four door in a ditch on RT 18 with no one around it. A look inside the car resulted in the seizure of a suspected heroin capsule. Efforts to contact the owner, Anna Dykstra were unsuccessful and the vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.

NARRATIVE: Citizen out running advised he saw a bicycle in the bushes in the area of the old outlets on Piney Narrows Road. The bike is a Mongoose brand and was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for storage. The owner can reclaim the bike by calling (410) 758-0770 extension 1255 and providing identification.

LOCATION: 900 Block of Oyster Cover Drive, Grasonville
VICTIM : Joseph C. Kirby of Stevensville
ARREST: Keith Andura Rich (19) of Centreville
Matthew Richard Forrest (19) of Stevensville
CHARGE:
NARRATIVE: Sheriff’s Office called to location for a report of a large fight. As deputies arrived several subjects were seen running as well as several vehicle attempting to leave. Deputies located a victim, identified as Joseph Kirby who reported that a Keith Rich had displayed a black semi auto pistol, pointed it at his face and also displayed a knife during a verbal altercation. When someone yelled the police were arriving, Rich got into a black passenger car driven by a white male. As the car attempted to leave, it backed into a parked burgundy Cadillac Escalade owned by Margaret A. Malle of Grasonville parked in a handicap space.
As additional units arrived, the suspect car was located nearby, unoccupied and locked with a semi-auto pistol visible in the passenger floor. Several witnesses were located who confirmed the suspect as Keith Rich.
The suspect car was about to be towed from the location, two subjects walked out of the marsh area off of Main Street and were identified as Keith Rich and Matthew Forrest. The suspect car, a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic was owned by the suspect Keith Rich. The car and suspects were transported to the Sheriff’s Office. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of a Winchester fixed bladed knife and a black Stinger P9 6mm Airsoft Pistol in which the orange safety tip had been painted black to resemble an actual firearm.
After interviewing the suspects, Matthew Forrest was issued a citation for failure to remain at a property damage accident and later released. Keith Rich was charged with assault 1st Degree and 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment and Dangerous Weapon w/ threat to injure. A District Court Commissioner held Rich on a $20,000 Bond. Rich was released the next morning after a property bond was posted.

NARRATIVE: Victim was found by a family member unconscious due to prescription medication and alcohol. Paramedic on the scene was able to revive the subject and he was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for further treatment.

VICTIM: Vincent Talty of Sudlersville
NARRATIVE: Deputies were called to location for a shots fired call. On arrival it was determined that the shots were fired from a BB gun and that a window had been damaged due to a pellet. A 11 year old female had been shooting a BB gun and a stray pellet had ricocheted and had broken the window. Arrangements were made with a parent and victim. No further actions were needed.

VICTIM: Sunni Datta of Church Hill
NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to location for an alarm call and on arrival found an broken door. A search of the store confirmed that entry had been made and the suspect was gone. A lottery machine was damaged and cash from the machine was missing. Video showed the suspect as possibly a white or light skinned heavy set male dressed in black with a hooded sweatshirt with a white or grey t-shirt. The amount of money is unavailable at this time. Damages were estimated at $500.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported that he had recently ended a relationship with a female and began to date another person. However, on today’s date the previous lady had been texting him and threatening to call his current friend. The victim agreed to meet with her and during the conversation, the ex-girlfriend became irate and had slapped him on the head and then struck his car. Contact was made with the female who denied striking Jones or his car, however she did agree to stop calling / texting Jones. Victim was advised of the process if he desired charges.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported while working at Big Owl’s Restaurant someone had taken $350 Cash, several checks and two bank cards from her purse that was secured location. Another employee stated that earlier there had been a verbal disturbance between staff and a unknown subject, who was seen in the area where the purse was located. No description of the subject was given other than he left in a gold colored Crown Victoria.
