INCIDENT:           Scam Alert

DATE / TIME:      5/16/2016

LOCATION:         Ingleside, MD

DETAILS:              Victim reported receiving a friend request on Facebook from a female not known to him, but listed a mutual friend and accepted the invite. The two began to message each other with the new female friend advising she had recently separated from her boyfriend. After a lengthy messaging session, the two switched to Skype where the female appeared in a bed naked. The female then requested the victim to make a video of himself exposing his private area.

The victim complied and then began to receive Facebook messages demanding $5000 to delete the video or it would be posted on YouTube and failure to pay would result in his “friends” being sent a link to the video. According to the victim he did not pay any money and the video was in fact placed on YouTube but has since been removed.

The Sheriff’s Office can only remind persons to use caution and good judgement when posting on the internet. In this case the suspect initially advised she was in Chicago and later that it was part of a network in Europe.
