PRESS RELEASE

INCIDENT:  Theft $1K to $10K

DATE / TIME:  10/13/2011 @ 1049 Hours

LOCATION: Hunt Ray Farm Lane, Centreville

VICTIM:  Sidney Ashley of Centreville

NARRATIVE:  Victim reported that in the past two months an unknown suspect stole 500-600 feet of wiring and numerous batteries from his farm equipment. The estimated damage costs exceed $4600.

INCIDENT:  Thefts from Vehicles & MDOP

DATE / TIME :  10/14/2011 @ 0704 Hours

LOCATION:  Sudlersville Road Sudlersville, MD

NARRATIVE:

Jennifer Scott reported that someone had smashed her passenger window on her Pontiac Gran Prix and had taken $40.00 in cash. The vehicle was last checked at about 2200 hours.

 

While at Ms. Scott’s, a neighbor Michael Timms reported someone had rummaged thru two vehicles at his residence, a Chevrolet Silverado truck and a Hyundai Elentra. About $40 was missing from those vehicles without damage as they were unlocked.

 

Another neighbor, Luis Carrendano found his Ford Windstar van with a smashed passenger window and believes nothing was taken but incurred about $1000 damage.

 

At 1000 Hours additional reports were received. The first was Jessica Clough who reported that her Ford Escape was locked and had the window smashed. The damage is estimated at $1000.

 

Another report came from William Allen on Peters Corner Road. His wife’s car a Toyota Corolla had $9 taken and his Dodge Dakota pickup had also been rummaged thru. Neither vehicle was locked nor was there any reported damage.

 

Later in the day additional reports were taken. Betty & Thomas Russell reported that their Pontiac Gran Prix had had the window smashed and a wallet with credit cards, cash and Driver’s License was missing.

 

Barbara Wallace also reported that her brother’s truck had been entered and someone had gone thru the truck. However she was unable to advise if something was missing.

 

Sheriff Hofmann is asking citizens to report any suspicious activity that may be related to this type of incident to the Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770.

INCIDENT: Medical Emergency

DATE / TIME: 10/15/2011 @ 1010 Hours

LOCATION: Little Jean Road, Stevensville

VICTIM: Male (21) of Westover, MD

NARRATIVE:  Deputies responded to location for a  report of an unconscious male. Emergency Medical personnel transported the subject to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment. A search of the room where the subject was found resulted in the seizure of suspected Fetanyl and Oxycodone along with several items of paraphernalia. Charges are pending.

INCIDENT: Trespassing

DATE /TIME: 10/25/2011 @ 2000 Hours

LOCATION: American Legion, 800 Romancoke Road, Stevensville

ARREST: Adam Paul Scherl (39) of Queenstown

 

NARRATIVE:  Deputies assigned to the Island Bay Day Music Festival were advised that an Adam Scherl was on the property and that he had been banned from the American Legion property. Subject was located asked to leave and was escorted off the property after being told not to return. About a half hour later the subject was located around the stage area and placed under arrest charged with trespassing, resisting arrest and failure to obey a lawful order. After processing at the Sheriff’s Office, he was released on his own recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.

INCIDENT: Traffic Collision

DATE /TIME: 10/15/2011 @ 2106 Hours

LOCATION:  Queen Anne Club Drive, Stevensville

VICTIM: (Included in Narrative)

ARREST: Rosabel Canay Harper (79) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE:

Deputies were dispatched to the area for a report of a hit & run type accident which occurred in the 200 block of Queen Anne Club Drive.  As units arrived, they were directed to the 300 block where a 2001 Honda Van was with damage to the passenger front area. The driver was pointed out by witnesses and identified as Rosabel Harper of Stevensville. Ms. Harper had an odor of alcohol and admitted to having some wine. After attempting field sobriety tasks, Ms. Harper was placed under arrest. At 206 Queen Anne Club Drive there were three vehicles that had been struck, a 2001 Toyota Truck belonging to Christopher A. Clark, a 2002 Jeep and a 2009 Toyota 4-door both belonging to James B. Clarke. The report indicates that at the time the truck was struck, there were children in the truck bed. No injuries were reported. After charging, Ms. Harper was released to a sober family member.

INCIDENT:  Domestic Assault

DATE / TIME: 10/16/2011 @ 0135 Hours

LOCATION: 300 Block of South Carolina Road, Stevensville

VICTIM:  Jessica R. Clark of Stevensville

ARREST: Shane Michael Reeder (31) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE:  Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to South Carolina Road for a domestic in progress. On arrival the suspect, Shane Reeder came stumbling from the residence shouting “Lock me up”. Dfc. Rickard recognized Reeder from an earlier call at the American Legion. As Mr. Reeder was detained with the assistance of a MSP Trooper, Ms. Clark reported that Mr. Reeder was yelling in the house, waking a 4 yoa child, and was throwing half emptied beer cans. Mr. Reeder continued to be loud refusing to calm down and then pushed the trooper. Both officers then placed Mr. Reeder under arrest and he continued to resist. During the scuffle, the trooper’s name plate was damaged. At the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, Mr. Reeder continued to be combative and was placed into a holding cell where he urinated on the floor. A District Court Commissioner set bail at $25,000 and he was held at the Detention Center.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported he had forgotten to lock his work van parked in his driveway. This morning he found his Garmin GPS and a back-up camera missing each valued at $250.

INCIDENT: Thefts from Vehicles

DATE /TIME: 10/16/2011 @ 0943 Hours

LOCATION:  Murphy Road, Ingleside

VICTIM:  James Middleton, Casey Cole & William E. Cahall all of Ingleside

 

NARRATIVE: Mr. Middleton reported that overnight someone had stolen about $5.00 of change and a flashlight from his GMS truck parked in the driveway unlocked. 
At another residence, Casey Cole reported that her Mustang had a smashed passenger window and a large graffiti print purse was missing, along with a hot pink Coach Wristlet, several credit cards and various forms of ID.  That afternoon, William Cahall reported finding his passenger window of his Ford Explorer smashed and that his vehicle had been rummaged thru with nothing found missing. A second vehicle parked at the Roe Ingleside Road residence had also been entered. The three reports had damages over $1000 and losses of over $500. Sheriff Hofmann is asking citizens to report any suspicious activity that may be related to this type of incident to the Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770.

DATE / TIME: 10/16/2011 @ 2012 Hours

LOCATION: Trevor Court, Queenstown

VICTIM: Male (25) of Queenstown

NARRATIVE: Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the location for a report of an overdose of prescription pills. On arrival the subject walked out of the house and attempted to walk away from the deputy. When stopped, he advised he wanted to harm himself and was transported to an area medical facility for treatment.

LOCATION: Cloverfields Drive, Stevensville

VICTIM: Female (77) of Stevensville

NARRATIVE: Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the location for a report of an overdose of prescription pills and alcohol. On arrival the subject was barely coherent, had fallen and had made statements about harming herself. She was transported by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Centerfor treatment. LOCATION: 400 Block of Queen Anne Club Drive, Stevensville

VICTIM:  Joseph Pomeranz of Stevensville

NARRATIVE: Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the location for a report of a finding a pellet lodged in his garage wall which occurred sometime after October 14th. The damage was minimal and the homeowner was making his own repairs.
